Where are the llama babies, I am sure you are asking.
Well, we were told that both of our llamas were pregnant when we bought them.
Someone must have forgotten to tell the llamas… Both are quite past their due dates, so we have given up any hope that they are pregnant. Given the horrible heat we have had here lately and all the hustle and bustle of trying to finish up a house, I am not particularly disappointed. However, soon, I hope to have a little bit more of llama news to share.
In this manner.
Then a little farther along…
My first try at using a pick up stick to create floats. (And a huge 32″ stick is quite the thing to have to deal with).
Now I am more than halfway finished. It is supposed to be a table runner. I am not even sure these colors will integrate into my decorating plan for the new house. I can always put it in my studio, though.

I do memes on rare occasions. Beverly tagged me for this one, and it seems interesting, so here goes:
“The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.”
1) What was I doing 10 years ago?
I was working full time at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah, commuting an hour and a half each way. Also, I was seeing Phillip through school.
2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today?
Take strawberry pie out of the oven (yum), go feed llamas, read a bit, cook dinner and work on my weaving.
3) Snacks I enjoy:
Hummus, fruit salad, iced tea flavored Ice Breakers sugar free mints (sounds weird, but they are addictive), almonds
4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Retire!!! Give to church. Build a mountain getaway with a huge fiber studio and plenty of room for llamas and alpacas. Travel extensively. Go back to school just for the fun of learning. Let my pharmacist license lapse. Build an aviary and adopt neglected parrots.
5) Places I have lived:
Memphis, TN, McMinnville, TN, Nashville, TN, St. Simons Island, GA, Brunswick, GA
6) Jobs I have had:
Pharmacist intern, Retail Pharmacist, Hospital Pharmacist, Consultant Pharmacist. (Boring, aren’t I? But I have volunteered as a hamburger dresser at the fair).
7) Bloggers I am tagging who you will enjoy getting to know better:
5 people I think are good sports!!
Since Donna (and Ruth, earlier) asked about the counter tops, I guess I should clarify that they are of Hanstone Quartz. They look like granite, but require less maintenance (no sealing necessary).
Then, also, my new loom is a Kromski Harp. I have been weaving on it some this evening. It is a lot to get used to after using the little 12″ jobbie. This new loom is 32″.
Sorry to be corny, but isn’t it O.K. to be when you are excited?
This came yesterday, and I put it together.
My, but it takes up a lot of space. I don’t want to take it out to my studio yet, as I want it available here to play with.
Putting it together was hard work (for me, since I am not mechanically inclined), so I didn’t even try to wind the warp last night.
This morning, though, I did it, I think with some success.
My first attempt at “real” warping. Previously, I have only done the direct method using a peg.
All tied up and ready to be taken off…
Now to sley the warp onto the loom.

The color on either of these is a little off. Try to imagine something in between, and that is what it really looks like.
Kitchen
Another Shot
We had our counter tops installed today! They are some kind of beautiful!
Unfortunately, this was the day I didn’t have my camera with me.
I will try to get some shots tomorrow.
We also now have our HVAC system (but it isn’t hooked up to gas or electricity yet).
Who knew there was such a thing in an inkjet printer known in internet vernacular as an “Ink Spittoon”? Yes, it is just what it sounds like. It collects ink bits that are flung out (of the jets, I assume). And who knew you have to replace them?
Dumb piece of trivia, but it would have been nice if I had known it before getting alert that mine was almost full?
This is the back of a happy house.
You may be asking why.
Because it is getting a kitchen!!
It’s going to be lovely!!
Matching vanity cabinet in the master bath, too!!
We also have some in the laundry room. Don’t know why I didn’t take any pictures of them.
After seeing the beautiful gallery of scarves in the Summer issue of Spin Off, I knew I had to try a narrow version in the BFL/Alpaca blend I dyed and spun quite a while back. An easy knit with spectacular results!!
Morning Surf Scarf from HeartStrings Fiber Arts. She used to have the pattern posted on her site, but now it is in the current Spin Off Magazine.
